Back Wrap Cross Carry with Rucksack Straps
Instructions for BWCC w/RS (Back Wrap Cross Carry with Rucksack Straps)
Back wrap cross carry is an extremely supportive back carry, with three layers of fabric over baby and the straps going under and then over your shoulders for amazing comfort. Back wrap cross carry does require alot of steps and can therefore be a challenge to learn and perfect, but when it’s right it’s awesome for long carries. It also situates baby low on your back, rather than up by your shoulders, and so it is not right for all situations, but it is a lovely carry to wear a sleeping baby in.
In this BWCC variation, Rucksack (backpack) straps are used. Rucksack straps are nice in that they put no pressure on your chest. Also, they save quite a bit of fabric and so you can use a medium length wrap. They are also helpful if you are planning on laying baby down after he/she falls asleep as the straps can easily slide off your shoulders, instead of you being tangled in the wrap.

In these instructions, baby is 8 months and the wrap is a Didymos Aubergine Waves 4.7m.
First, assemble your tools.
Find the center of your wrap.
Put the wrap on baby’s back and then get baby onto your back.
I prefer to bring one of the sides of the wrap up over one of my shoulders at this point. This is not it’s final position, but it helps keep baby secure while you are wrapping.
Tighten well and tuck between your legs.
Grab the other side of the wrap and bring it under your arm, tighten well; make sure baby is in a good pouch seat.
Bring that strap back over the same shoulder.
Spread wrap across baby’s back.
Tighten well and bring wrap under baby’s leg.
Put that strap between your legs and grab the other strap.
Bring the wrap under your arm and tighten well.
Bring wrap back over the same shoulder.
Spread the wrap over baby’s back.
Tighten well, bring wrap under baby’s leg and around to the front.
Tie knot.
All done!

Happy wrapped baby!

That is the cutest baby I’ve ever seen. What a neat technique. I’ll have to try this out as soon as my sisters’ twins are born. She’s gonna need the backup. :3
