Back Wrap Cross Carry
Instructions for BWCC (Back Wrap Cross Carry)
Back wrap cross carry is an extremely supportive back carry, with three layers of fabric over baby and the straps going under and then over your shoulders for amazing comfort. Back wrap cross carry does require alot of steps and can therefore be a challenge to learn and perfect, but when it’s right it’s awesome for long carries. It also situates baby low on your back, rather than up by your shoulders, and so it is not right for all situations, but it is a lovely carry to wear a sleeping baby in. ![]()
In these instructions, baby is 8 months and the wrap is a Didymos Aqua Waves 4.7m.
First, assemble your tools.
Find the middle of your wrap.
Put the wrap on baby’s back and get baby onto your back.
At this point, I like to bring one side of the wrap up over one of my shoulders. This is not it’s final position, but it helps to keep baby secure while I’m wrapping. Tighten it well, and tuck between your legs.
Bring the other side of the wrap under your arm and tighten well.
Take the wrap across your chest and over the opposite shoulder.
Spread wrap across baby’s back.
Tighten, tuck wrap under baby’s leg and bring to the front.
Tuck that strap between your legs and grab the other end.
Bring the wrap under your arm and tighten well.
Bring wrap across your chest and over the opposite shoulder.
Spread wrap across baby’s back.
Tighten well, bring under baby’s leg and around to the front.
Tie knot.
All done!
