Jordan’s Back Carry

Instructions for the JBC (Jordan’s Back Carry)

JBC is my favorite back carry (obviously ;) ). I invented it because none of the other back carries gave me everything I needed. I wanted baby to be up high on my back, but well-supported with multiple layers of fabric. I worked with altering several different back carries, eventually combining features, and the JBC was born!

In these instructions, baby is 10 months and the wrap is an easycare #3 Lagun 4.2m.

First, assemble your tools. ;)

Baby and wrap

Next, get baby onto your back however you prefer (I’m doing hip scoot).

Get baby onto your back in the wrap

Then scoot baby up high on your back.

Position the wrap as though you are doing a Rebozo Back Carry, with baby in a good pouch seat and the wrap going over one shoulder and under the other arm. Tighten really well, and tuck the end of the wrap going over your shoulder between your knees.

Grab the other end of the wrap and tighten really well.

Bring that end back over the same shoulder.

Spread the wrap across baby’s back like in a cross carry.

Wonderful instructions. Your video presentations are wonderful too. At times I like picture directions better. Thank you for both.

    You created this carry?

    • Jordan says:

I’m so glad you find the instructions helpful!

Yes, I created this carry. Near the beginning of my babywearing career, after I had learned a few back carries, I realized that each one had different features that I loved, so I worked on combining features until I came up with Jordan’s Back Carry. The other back carries still have a place in my carrying library, but JBC is my standard, everyday back carry. :)
