Instructions for the JBCV

(Jordan's Back Carry Variation)

First, assemble your tools. Wink

Baby and wrap

Next, get baby onto your back however you prefer (I'm doing hip scoot).

Get baby onto your back in the wrap

Then scoot baby up high on your back.

Position the wrap across baby's back and under one leg, with the wrap going over one of your shoulders and under the other arm. Be sure to keep a hand on baby, as this first cross piece is NOT going to secure baby to your back. Tighten really well, and tuck the end of the wrap going over your shoulder between your knees.

Position wrap across baby's back

Grab the other end of the wrap, tighten really well, and bring that end back over the same shoulder.

Bring that end of the wrap back over the same shoulder

Spread the wrap across baby's back like in a cross carry.

Tighten over baby's back and tuck wrap under baby's leg.

Tuck that strap between your legs, grab the other end, and take it back under the same arm.

Take the end of the wrap under the same arm

Spread fabric straight across baby's back.

Bring around to the front and tie. In this variation, I think it's necessary to tie Tibetan instead of around your waist, as this keeps the outer pocket up nice and high and keeps baby from leaning out. Since the first pass across baby is just a cross (not a rebozo back carry like in the original JBC), if the pocket were to slip down, baby could lean out and become unstable.

Tie wrap in the front

Ta-da!
